The 17th UPCE Triennial Convention was held at the Hilton in Mississauga, Ontario on September 17 to 19. Members from coast to coast met to debate the Union’s direction and elect the next UPCE Executive.

The UPCE National Executive Supports your Bargaining Team

Negotiating a new collective agreement on behalf of a membership is never an easy task. In fact, it is a responsibility that everyone takes very seriously. The UPCE National Executive has complete faith and trust in both the bargaining team, and in the longstanding process the Union continues to follow.

RE: Canada Post CEO Deepak Chopra announces he will resign in March 2018

The UPCE National Executive learned of Mr. Chopra’s decision to resign (stated as in March of 2018), on August 14, 2017. Mr. Chopra’s decision seemed to have been communicated to the media first, before being shared with employees and colleagues. Unfortunately, this is nothing new for Canada Post, and yet another example of a company that apparently prides itself in its “leadership behaviours.”

Social Justice Fund (SJF) - Jacqueline Gujarati presents to the PSAC NBoD

The UPCE is proud to highlight, that Jacqueline Gujarati, one of our UPCE colleagues (Toronto Local 00108), presented her report on her work with the Stephen Lewis Foundation in Swaziland and South Africa through the PSAC SJF, to the PSAC NBoD at the June 2017 Meeting. The Union of Postal Communications Employees “UPCE” has created its own scholarship program for UPCE members in good standing and their children.

C-27 was introduced without notice or consultation with Canadians, pensioners, or unions and proposes measures that directly contradict election promises to improve retirement security for Canadians. If enacted, it will have negative implications for private and public-sector DB plans in every jurisdiction in Canada.

In its latest round of negotiations with Canada Post, the Union of Postal Communications Employees, a division of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, is fighting for defined benefit pensions for all of its members.

The government has confirmed that Canadians from coast to coast to coast will have a say in the services they value and want. Prorated Dues for Part-Time Members and for Volume Counter Members
